A nature lovers paradise, Knysna, on the Western Cape of South Africa and part of the Garden Route, is known for its lush indigenous forests, golden beaches and tranquil lakes. Surround yourself with an abundance of wildlife, with Knysa Lagoon, now a protected marine reserve that is home to the extraordinary sea horse and over 200 species of fish, while the local landscape is home of the only forest elephant in South Africa. This retreat is not to be missed!

Designed by an award winning architect, with 360º views that will take your breath away, this retreat villa is unlike any other you will find. The villa sits atop a 2 million year old sand dune, surrounded by natural forests and the Swartvlei lagoon.
With echoes of medieval architecture and rustic finishes combined with masses of natural light, the villa merges seamlessly into the landscape, allowing guests to feel part of the stunning scenery. The villa is environmentally friendly generating about 90% of its power requirements using solar power and using reverse osmosis to utilise the rainwater.
Abundant with wild life, you are sure to come across beautiful bush buck. Illusive and nocturnal creatures abound including: wild pig, porcupine, civats, honey badgers, rooikat (lynx). Tortoises are in abundance, more than 50 have been tagged and it is also a bird watchers’ paradise.
All of our retreats are pitched towards all levels of yoga – from newcomers to skilled yogis – our Retreat Leaders will always adapt classes to accommodate the abilities of our attendees.
During our retreats, guests will enjoy Vinyasa Flow, Restorative and Yin yoga sessions along with meditative elements. Your retreat leader will run two yoga sessions daily; in the morning where guests will undertake a more dynamic class and in the evening where the focus will be around relaxation (see example itinerary: Alpine Retreat Itinerary). All classes are optional and aim to rejuvenate our guests, whilst also helping you to build on your practice.
This retreat will be led by wellness expert and yoga teacher of 25 years, Jennifer Ellis (view profile).
We believe that on a retreat our guests should eat well and plentifully and therefore we employ a private chef to cater for your meals. Our recipe creator will cook a range of healthy and delicious meals using fresh, local produce and a buffet brunch will be available every morning until 12.
During the retreat, guests will also enjoy one evening meal at a local authentic restaurant.
Our meals are vegetarian and pescatarian. We are happy to accommodate food preferences or allergens where possible, though specific dietary requirements will incur a small surcharge of £50.
(This is because many specialist products i.e. gluten free / vegan are not easily available in retreat locations and thus need to be sourced further afield.)

For each of our retreats, we handpick our favourite excursions to help you explore your surroundings and have unique and memorable experience. Excursion information will be available after booking and we are more than happy to assist you booking onto external trips.
As part of your retreat booking you will be entitled to a free group transfer from the airport to the retreat villa on the retreat start date as well as a return transfer on the last day of the retreat. These vehicles are pre-booked and the times cannot be altered.
The group transfer from George airport to the Villa will depart from the airport at 2pm.
The return transfer from the Villa to George airport will depart on the last day circa 9am.
We recommend that if you would like to use the free group transfer that you organise your flights at complimentary times.
Alternatively, if you would prefer a private transfer to suit your exact flight details this can be pre-arranged for a charge of €100 per journey (based on 1 person).
